Know What Your Time Management Barriers Are
(So That You Can Overcome Them)
This is where People Dynamics’ ACTION™ Time System begins.
Not with fixing.
Not with colour-coded calendars.
With truth.
A — AUDIT Your reality
Diagnose the Chaos
You cannot improve what you have not measured.
The goal of this lesson is a psychological shift:
From:
“I’m overwhelmed.”
To:
“I can see exactly where my time is leaking.”
No fixing yet. Just clarity.
Step 1: Conduct Your Time Audit
For the next 3–5 days, track your time honestly.
No apps required. A simple printed tracker works.
(🎁 Bonus: There’s one in your workbook)
Every 30 minutes, record what you were actually doing.
Then categorise each block:
-
Revenue-generating
-
Growth-building
-
Admin
-
Reactive (emails, WhatsApp, interruptions)
-
Personal / distraction
Also rate your energy during that block:
-
High focus
-
Medium
-
Low
🔬 This is not about judgment.
It is about data.
Let’s replace assumptions with evidence.
Step 2: Identify the Gap
At the end of your audit, review:
-
How many hours were truly revenue-focused?
-
How much time was reactive?
-
When were you at your cognitive best?
-
What drained you?
💪 The power of this exercise lies in the gap between perception and reality.
This is usually where the “aha” moment happens.
Step 3: Diagnose Behavioural Patterns
Time leaks are rarely about time.
They are about behaviour…

The 6 Time Red Flags
1️⃣ The Busy Trap
You feel constantly active, but revenue is flat.
You are operating — not leading.
2️⃣ Perfectionism Paralysis
You delay progress because it is not “ready”.
You prioritise polish over momentum.
3️⃣ Yes Syndrome
Your calendar is full of low-impact commitments.
You struggle to protect strategic time.
4️⃣ Distraction Drift
You break focus repeatedly.
Notifications dictate your workflow.
5️⃣ Control Fixation
You do tasks others could competently handle.
Delegation feels slower than doing it yourself.
6️⃣ Delayed Decision Loop
You postpone important actions because they feel uncomfortable, unclear, or risky.
🛎️ None of these are character flaws.
They are patterns.
And patterns can be redesigned.
📌 A Word on Procrastination
Procrastination is often mislabelled as laziness.
It is usually one of three things:
-
Lack of clarity
-
Lack of structure
-
Fear (of failure, judgement, or complexity)
Again — no fixing yet.
Just notice where it shows up in your audit.
What Happens Next
Once you complete this audit:
-
You stop guessing
-
You see behavioural patterns clearly
-
You understand your energy map
-
You know exactly where time is leaking
And only then do we move to the next stage of ACTION.
Cutting out everything that doesn’t serve you.
