Now that you have decided on the structure that will take your business forward, it’s time to identify the talent needs of your business, i.e., the people whose names will eventually appear in the organisational blocks.

Competencies 📋
In a human resources context, competence is made up of three elements:
Knowledge: What the person knows, theoretical concepts, policies, procedures, laws etc. (Head)
Skills: Know-how, hands-on application of knowledge. (Hands)
Attitude / Abilities / personal attributes / motivation: The motivation someone has for them to do something, their personality style, the way they approach people and their work. This element is what supports your company culture and values. (Heart)
Team members must possess the right mix of knowledge, skills, and attributes (motivation and abilities) for them to contribute to your business in a meaningful way.

Step 3: Identify what competencies the individual must have to successfully complete the tasks
Job specification – more specific than a job description, this details the job’s eligibility requirements, detailing the skills, personality traits, qualifications, education, and other prerequisites needed for a role.
